Iatmul statue - Papua New Guinea Ancient cult statue of a man seated on a stool, his hands resting on his knees. Beautiful, peaceful expression on the face, whose eyes are formed by two cowrie shells. The powerful nose, sculpted in relief, ends in characteristic dilated nostrils and is pierced by a shell loop. A fine necklace of woven plant fibers hangs from the neck, finished with several elegant shell elements. Beautiful old polychromy, drawings on the body. Wood naturally split in several places.
