Victor MESA Seated man Pastel on paper 67 x 51 cm Note: Víctor Mesa (b. Uruguay, 1951) first exhibited as a self-taught artist at the Plaza Libertad Fine Arts Fair in 1965. He then studied engraving with Luis Solari and Glauco Capozzoli and travelled throughout America. From 1978, he lived in Europe and frequented the Luis Camnitzer studio. In 1980, he moved to France, attended the Atelier mexicain d'Oaxaca and became a printmaking teacher. The imaginary world of the mafia, crime films, street games and casinos are his favorite themes, which he mixes with violence (explosions, fires, gunshots) and comic / dreamlike scenes.
